Professor Regine Hock, a glaciologist with UAF's Geophysical Institute, and Tristan Weiss, a research technician with the Institute of Northern Engineering, hike near the toe of the Jarvis Glacier in the eastern Alaska Range. The team was measuring the ice depth at various places along the glacier's length as a part of a long term study on the hydrology of the river's ecosystem.
