Daisy Huang, a research engineer for the Alaska Center for Energy and Power, works with intern Luke George to clear snow needed to install a SODAR station on a hillside near the Black Rapids Lodge, about 150 miles southeast of Fairbanks. The station uses sound waves to measure atmospheric distrubances to produce a profile of wind speed and direction at a range of altitudes.
