JR Ancheta is a 2015 graduate of UAF with a degree in foreign languages and a minor in journalism. He began as assistant photographer for University Relations in 2012 and moved to full-time work in spring 2016, when the chief photographer retired. From December 2011 to January 2012, Ancheta embedded with soldiers from the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division in Afghanistan as a photojournalist. Ancheta enjoys digital and analog photography. His work has been published in the Anchorage Daily News, Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the UAF Sun Star and the UAF Aurora magazine. Ancheta was born in Laoag City, Philippines, and raised in Sitka.
Zayn Roohi is a mechanical engineering student at UAF and assistant photographer/videographer for University Relations. As part-owner of the Alaska-based marketing and film production firm Bizzay, Roohi recently finished work on "Chance," an independent feature film about homelessness in Alaska. Roohi was born in Nebraska and lived in Atlanta before moving to Anchorage.
